Spike Crochet Stitch Tutorial
I use spike crochet stitch when I need single crochet but I want to spice up my design a bit. Using this stitch gives me a nice textured stitch that would work perfectly for purses, clutches, bags and baskets. It’s sturdy enough to hold the shape of crochet items but does not make it bulky or heavy. I use a pattern alternating a regular single crochet with 1 spike stitch.
Let's get crocheting
1. Chain even number of stitches
2. 1 sc, 1 spike st (insert the hook to the base of stitch in the row below your current working row and work as single crochet). Continue working till desired length of your item alternating 1 sc and 1 spike st.
If you started your row with sc , the next row should start with spike st. continue to alternated the stitch from to row.
